Teaching & supervision
My teaching connects methods with the physical processes, social conditions and decisions that shape environmental systems. The aim is for students to understand both what a spatial model can show and the assumptions that limit it.
Teaching approach
I encourage students to move beyond software operation. Coursework considers data architecture, methodological justification, reproducible analysis, validation, uncertainty and interpretation. Students work with real datasets and problem-oriented assignments to develop both analytical capability and methodological judgment.
My postgraduate teaching spans GIS, geospatial hydrology, hazard monitoring, early-warning systems, disaster technology and decision science.
